     Tourism is one of the main industries in Sri Lanka.Major tourist attractions are focused around the islands famous beaches located in the Southern and eastern parts of the country,ancient heritage sites located in the interior of the country and lush green resorts located in the mountainous regions of the country.Sri Lanka received over half a million tourists in 2006.




        Sri Lanka has many ares to visit as Beach & Lagoons (Bentota, Hikkaduwacoral reef, Matara polhena, Unawatuna, Nilaveli, Arugambay, Pasikudah & Kalkudah ,Batticalo beach & Lagoon, Negambo beach & Lagoon) Archeological sites (Anuradhapura ,Sigiriya,Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Galle, Dambulla, Maligawila, Yapahuwa) National parks are Yala National Park- most visited & second largest in Sri Lanka ,Udawalawa National Park - Famous for Elephant watching,Kumana National Park - Famous for Bird watching, Bundala National Park - Famous for Bird watching ,Wasgamuwa National Park - one most attaractive national park,Willpattu National park - Largest in Sri Lanka ,famous for leopards, Minneriya National Park - Famous for Eliphants , Horton Plains National Park - Only national park in hill country
Adventure Sports are White water Rafting - Kithulgala Surfing, Arugambay ,Bentota, Madhu ganga, Koggala Trekking ,Knuckless Mountain Range.

     Sri Lanka has its own indigenous scheme of traditional medicine (Ayurveda).This system has been practiced for many centuries in the island nation.
Sri Lanka developed its own Ayurvedic system based on a series of prescriptions nanded down from generation to generation over 3,000 years.King Buddhadasa the most influential of these physicians ,wrote the Saratha Sangrahaya.Sri Lankan Physicians still use today for referance.Sri Lankan mountain Mihintale still has the ruins of what many belive to be the first hospital in the world.Old hospital sites now attract tourists.
